During National Volunteer Week, we at MATTER want to express just how much we value and appreciate each and every volunteer that helps make our mission possible! One of the ways that volunteers engage with MATTER is through our “Companies That MATTER” program. At the foundation of every thriving community are companies that leverage their skills, resources, and networks as a force for good. Companies That MATTER is a network of world-class businesses committed to community engagement through volunteerism and finding innovative solutions to create change, next door and around the world.
Recently, two Companies That MATTER, Briggs and Morgan (a full-service law firm with offices in the Twin Cities) and Little & Co. (a Minneapolis-based design and branding agency) squared off against each other in a friendly MATTERbox packing competition. Enthusiastic volunteers from both organizations packed 200 MATTERboxes with healthy food and nutrition information for distribution in the community. The competition ended with Little’s team beating out Briggs and Morgan’s group by finishing their packing in the shortest length of time!
Following the event, one of the team leaders from Little commented,
“The MATTER packing event was just what our team needed—a chance to connect with each other while supporting people in our community who need help. And adding to that a little friendly packing team competition with our clients from Briggs? What could be better?! We laughed, we had fun, and we helped others. It was a perfect afternoon.”
Both of these companies, in addition to engaging their employees through volunteerism, have also contributed to MATTER by providing invaluable professional assistance in the areas of branding and legal services.
So THANK YOU to all of our Companies That MATTER! We appreciate all you do for MATTER and our community!
